Kimbo Slice Gives a One Punch KO in His Second Boxing Match

In his 2nd professional boxing bout Kimbo Slice scored a one punch knockout against Tay Bledsoe. Here's the video...

He is now 2-0 in his boxing career and has only had to throw a few punches total to get those wins. Although these haven't exactly been top level opponents, it still appears like he is going to have more success in boxing than he did in MMA.

Kimbo Slice's Boxing Debut - He's a Winner!

He's back! And hopefully for a lot longer this time.

Kimbo Slice made his professional boxing career debut on 8/13/2011 when he fought in a 4 round match against James Wade at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma. He won the fight via Knockout at ten seconds in the first round.

That means he is 1-0 in his boxing career. Yep, he's undefeated as of now.

Since Kimbo Slice was fired from the UFC after his recent loss, and most likely never will take off to become a top-notch MMA fighter, it seems this blog isn't going to be of much use anymore. I will still update it with any Kimbo Slice news or fight announcements if there is any, but right now there's not much to post.

So, the purpose of this post is to tell you about a new mixed martial arts blog that a friend of mine owns called "The Bloody Cage" -- Clever name if you ask me!

He will be updating it with all sorts of UFC and general MMA fighting information so keep it on your "to visit often" list.

Kimbo Slice Fights Tonight on UFC 113

Don't forget that Kimbo Slice's next fight is tonight in UFC 113.

Kimbo Slice vs Matt Mitrione

Both fighters were on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

I personally think that Kimbo should win this one. Matt Mitrione did not impress me at all on TUF 10 (except in the finals) and he has less experience than Slice does at this point. But you never know what's going to happen in the UFC so it's highly possible that I could be wrong. We will see in just a couple hours from now.

I'll update this blog with the results so come back later if you want to know who wins, and how.

Early reports indicate that Kimbo Slice vs Matt Mitrione is set for for UFC 113 on May 01, 2010. The wait may finally be over as the new UFC fighter, Kimbo Slice, gets set to make his highly anticipated debut with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He's back again! Kimbo Slice fights again this Saturday December 5th against Houston Alexander in the Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights finale live at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.

I don't know much about Houston Alexander but I do know that he has been around MMA and the UFC for quite a while and has fought some very good opponents. He even knocked out Keith Jardine at UFC 71 back in 2007.

This should be a good fight as both Kimbo Slice and Houston Alexander are hard hitters capable of knocking each other out.

There are also a few other great fights scheduled that night so be sure to tune in!

Kimbo Slice Fighting on TUF Again?

Tonight's episode of The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights was a fairly dramatic one.

It looks like Kimbo Slice might actually get a shot to come back and fight. I know this has already been a possibility before but I think it's much more likely this time. Matt Mitrione either really is injured or is just pretending to be hurt because he's a pussy. Either way Kimbo Slice appears to be the one that will take his place if he can't fight.

The fight between Justin Wren and Roy Nelson was a pretty good one as there was decent action with some good shots landed from both sides. Roy Nelson ended up winning by majority decision but everyone agreed it should have gone a 3rd round to decide the fight because it was too close to call.

I assumed that Roy Nelson was a great fighter based on his resume coming into TUF 10 but from what I have seen so far between his fight against Kimbo Slice and now against Justin Wren, he isn't very impressive at all. One thing that's for sure is that Roy thinks he's a better fighter than his performances show. Even when he wins it looks weak.

With a little more work I think Kimbo Slice will definitely be a better MMA and UFC fighter than Roy Nelson or Justin Wren.

Kimbo Slice Almost Gets His Second Chance On TUF 10

Kimbo Slice almost got his chance to fight again on "The Ultimate Fighter 10" after an injury to Zak Jensen. He was all fired up and excited to get to fight again but as it turns out Zak was able to fight and Kimbo didn't get to this time.

In other drama from this episode of The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights...

Darrill "Titties" Schoonover almost got a beat down from Quinton "Rampage" Jackson for thinking he was a little tougher than he really is. Seems to me if you are a contestant on a show trying to get into the UFC then you might not want to try and fight a proven former champion of the UFC.

Darrill said, "A street fight is a lot different than a cage fight" and that might be true but him against Rampage in either a street fight or a cage fight would end very badly for "Titties" Schoonover. There's no doubt that Schoonover is a tough guy but he isn't that tough! At least not yet.

Also, in tonight's fight Darrill Schoonover ended up beating Zak Jensen in the first round from a triangle choke.

Anyway that's twice now that Kimbo Slice has almost had the chance to fight again on the show. Do you think he will ever get his chance or should he just sit back and relax a bit, and wait for his next fight in the actual UFC?

If you happened to catch the preview of tonight's episode of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Heavyweights, then I am sure you noticed that they made it appear as though Kimbo Slice would be fighting again tonight, or at least soon, despite losing last week to Roy Nelson.

Kimbo Slice Loses to Roy Nelson

Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson results:

Kimbo Slice lost to Roy Nelson in the 2nd round by TKO (referee stoppage) in tonight's episode of the ultimate fighter heavyweights.

It was a pretty good fight with both fighters getting in some good shots, especially Kimbo, but the much more experienced Roy Nelson's ground game was too much for Slice to handle and he eventually got the better of him.

To be honest, I didn't expect Kimbo to win this fight since Roy Nelson has a lot of MMA experience and is a former IFL champion. However, even in losing Slice showed that he has definitely improved his MMA fighting ability and will be a force in the UFC some time the near future.

It was the most anticipated fight in the ultimate fighter history and it did not disappoint, even though it wasn't exactly a super exciting fight.

It's very apparent that Kimbo Slice still needs to drastically improve his ground game but I think you have to give him props for fighting so well against a much more experienced and extremely tough opponent.

He's also a great guy even when he loses!

Kimbo Slice Says He's Training Hard for Next UFC Fight

UFC fans will finally see Kimbo Slice step into the Octagon on Wednesday night when his fight with Roy Nelson airs on The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV, and when Kimbo spoke with the media on Monday, he said he was pleased with how he did.

Kimbo, Nelson and the UFC have carefully avoided giving away any spoilers about the fight, which took place over the summer, but Kimbo did say, "I was impressed with my performance." And he indicated that he expects to have much better performances in the UFC down the road.

Kimbo said he's training at American Top Team -- one of the best MMA gyms in the world -- and that he expects to be better than ever for a likely UFC fight in December.

"I'm training at American Top Team," Kimbo said, adding that he plans to continue working at ATT for the forseeable future, and that coach Ricardo Liborio has been particularly helpful in preparing him.

Kimbo has been a professional MMA fighter for two years, but he acknowledged that his style hasn't changed much since his days as a street fighter: He's still primarily a stand-up brawler who's just trying to learn the basics of Brazilian jiu jitsu.

"I'm a hard puncher trying to learn the ground game," Kimbo said. "You can do a lot, but you can't master anything in two years. In mixed martial arts, the more you roll the more you learn. It's something I'm working on."

American Top Team is known for its strenuous strength and conditioning program, which pushes its fighters through grueling workouts. Kimbo said he's in good cardiovascular shape and weighing about 230 pounds, and he said he'd be capable of dropping down to 205 pounds if the UFC asks him to become a light heavyweight.

"I'm a heavyweight," Kimbo said. "But if the promoters want me to come down, heck yeah I'd give it a try."

In Kimbo's case, the promoter is UFC President Dana White, who spent much of 2007 and 2008 ripping Kimbo as a circus sideshow and not a legitimate athlete. Now that Kimbo is under contract to White, he says the two of them can work together amicably.

"it's not like we sit down together for tea and toast, but we're businessmen," Kimbo said. "He's a promoter and I'm a fighter. We do what we do."

Kimbo Slice has UFC staying power

The ratings for the first edition of Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter: The Heavyweights," doubled the popular reality fighting series' usual numbers, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White said Tuesday.

There were 4.1 million viewers for the show's debut, and another million watched the replay. The major draw of the show is Kimbo Slice, the former YouTube street-fighting sensation who had a brief run in the short-lived Elite Xtreme Combat fighting organization that aired fights on CBS.

Although filming for "The Ultimate Fighter" is complete -- except for the finale to be aired live in December, with the winner earning a six-figure contract and membership in the UFC -- White told The Times that whether Slice wins or loses during the competition, he'll be in the UFC.

"Are you going to see Kimbo Slice fight again in the UFC? Yes," White said.

Asked if that was a decision based on the first episode's ratings, White said: "No, never. The ratings do not influence our decision. The guy can either fight or not."

White said one of the strongest endorsements he received about Slice's skill in the octagon came from former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, who's a coach in the show and told White he wants to continue working with Slice at his elite MMA training compound directed by respected trainer Greg Jackson in New Mexico.

"We've been very impressed with Kimbo's performance," added UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

Kimbo Slice On Team Rampage Jackson

Kimbo Slice was picked first by Rampage Jackson to be on his team (second overall) in the season opener of Ultimate Fighter 10. There's not much else to report on Kimbo because he didn't fight today and there was no drama surrounding him on this episode.

The first fight of the season was Abe Wagner vs Jon Madsen, and Madsen completely dominated in every aspect of the fight. He ended up winning by a unanimous decision. It was also one of the bloodiest UFC fights I have ever seen and all of it was from Wagner's head.

Kimbo Slice Attempts to Fight His Way Onto UFC Roster

The upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter is easily the show's most anticipated ever. The main reason is simple: Kimbo Slice.

Slice is the polarizing figure who garnered mass attention just two years ago, rocketing up YouTube's most popular list for his Internet street fights. Then he embarked on a main-event run with the ill-fated EliteXC.

Now Slice goes from CBS main-event performer to wannabe fighter on UFC's reality show. The question is, has Slice's MMA game developed enough to be a UFC-caliber fighter? Judging from his last appearance in the cage, Slice has a lot of work to do in order to prove he belongs. He has taken the first step though, and that is his surprising participation in UFC's training camp.

Slice's participation in the UFC reality series came as something of a surprise when it was announced this summer, since he has already been featured in MMA main events on national television, and since UFC president Dana White publicly made negative comments about Slice in the past.

During Slice's run with EliteXC, White repeatedly challenged the rookie fighter's credibility. In February 2008, while Slice's popularity was near its peak, White was asked at a news conference about Slice's chances if he were to compete in the UFC.

"He would get hurt bad -- real bad," White said.

But White also said the only way Slice would ever get a chance to fight in the UFC would be to make his way through The Ultimate Fighter competition. To the surprise of many MMA fans and White himself, Slice accepted the opportunity.

"I respect Kimbo," White said. "He took me up on the offer and came in. He took me up on the challenge."

However, Slice is not the typical entrant on TUF. He already has an established following, and he has earned more money in MMA than all of the show's prior entrants. Due to his large appeal, the UFC has given Slice some special considerations.

"He has a contract if he wins this season," White said when asked about the money Slice will earn, "and it's bigger than everybody else's."

As for Slice's earnings for actually participating in TUF, White stated he is in the same boat with everyone else.

"They do get paid on The Ultimate Fighter, but it's just a reality show stipend," said White.

Now that he has agreed to do the high-profile show, Slice has to have some success in order to give his MMA career some credibility. His standing as a fighter was destroyed when he fell to the mat in just 14 seconds from a Seth Petruzelli jab.

As a participant on the second season of TUF, Petruzelli had some interesting views on how Slice will fare in the Ultimate Fighter house.

"I think he's going to go crazy on the show," Petruzelli said. "I can't seem him staying in the house and doing what we did like that."

More than just fighting on the show, Slice could have some additional problems to deal with due to the reputation he brings with him. The former street fighter can be flashy, even though he has not yet backed it up in the cage.

"I don't think the guys are going to like him, either, on the show because of who he is and the aura he portrays," Petruzelli said.

Just appearing on the program will not be an instant ticket to success for Slice. He has to win at least one fight and show that he is fully willing to "pay his dues" in the sport. The two coaches who will judge Slice's dedication during this season are Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans.

Two seasons ago, the coaches were heavyweights, just like Slice. Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira were the UFC stars training the fighters. A former UFC interim heavyweight champion, Nogueira is not completely convinced that Slice will succeed.

"His ground game is not there yet," Nogueira said. "He does have good hands. For UFC level, let's see how he's going to do."

In order to get to the UFC, Slice first has to survive training and living in the Ultimate Fighter house. One of last season's coaches, Dan Henderson, admits that he has heard good things about Slice.

"It will be interesting to see if he actually takes the training seriously and tries to learn," Henderson said. "Which, from what I'm hearing, he is trying to do."

Should Slice have been on last season's show, Henderson would not have had any issues coaching someone with such a large persona.

"Yes, I think anybody can coach him," Henderson said. "It's not up to the coach. It's up to the individual."

With his quick loss to Petruzelli on the second-to-last EliteXC show, Slice was exposed as not being a main-event level fighter -- even though EliteXC pushed him in that role. With his current opportunity to make the UFC roster, he has to build himself back up.

"He hasn't become an MMA fighter yet," Henderson said. "He's not there. He's been thrust into that limelight without the skills."

Now that the new season of the show is about to debut, all eyes will once again be on Kimbo Slice. Due to the ratings bonanza that will accompany his first actual UFC octagon appearance, Slice is getting what many fighters in the sport have not -- a second chance. Plus, Slice will have the advantage of not having to win the Ultimate Fighter tournament to make it to the UFC. He only has to demonstrate he can be somewhat competitive with a lower-level UFC fighter.

The big problem is this -- Seth Petruzelli was a lower-level UFC fighter. Therefore, if Slice wants to be successful on MMA's biggest stage, he will have to prove that he can do a lot more than just be competitive.

UFC Tougher Than NFL (Marcus Jones)

When the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter debuts Wednesday night on Spike, most of the eyes will be on Kimbo Slice, the street fighter turned YouTube star who is trying to make it into the UFC. But Kimbo is far from the most accomplished athlete on the upcoming season.

That distinction belongs to Marcus Jones, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end who was a first-round draft pick in 1996 and finished eighth in the NFL in sacks in 2000. Jones talked to FanHouse last week about why he made the transition from football to MMA, and why he thinks fighting in the Octagon is tougher than playing in the NFL.

Michael David Smith: What's more physically demanding, playing in the NFL or fighting in the Octagon?
Marcus Jones: Fighting in the Octagon is more demanding on your body. The pain that you go through over a short period of time, all the training that you have to do for just 15 minutes of fighting, to me, that's just incredibly difficult.

When did you decide you wanted to try MMA?
The biggest factor for me was the Tim Sylvia-Randy Couture fight (in March of 2007). I was 33 at the time and I saw that Couture just started fighting at 33 and was still great into his 40s. I didn't want to be that person who just spends his life standing on the sidelines, wondering, "What if?" so I started taking jiu jitsu classes at Gracie Tampa, and five months after that I had my first fight.

Do you have any regrets about how your athletic career has turned out, playing football through your 20s and now trying MMA? Do you wish you had tried MMA sooner?
I'm happy that I played football as long as I did. Any time you do a sport you enjoy, it's never a job, it's never work.
But I do wish I had started MMA at an earlier age. I ask myself, If I would have started jiu jitsu in my 20s, can you imagine what kind of fighter I'd be today? I'm a much better fighter now than I was during my first fight. In my first fight, I barely knew how to throw a jab. Now I feel comfortable fighting anybody.

Are you satisfied with your NFL career? You had one very good year with 13 sacks in 2000, but overall do you wish you had accomplished more?
I wish it would have turned out differently in the NFL, but you have to be comfortable with who you are. I knew early on that I wasn't the caliber of player of, say, a Simeon Rice. I also had a lot of injuries and that slowed me down. I loved college, and I loved playing in the NFL, but there came a point in my career where I knew it was time to move on. To move on to MMA is great because I've always watched it, I've always been a big fan of the sport. When I learn something new, it's exhilerating.

You're the most accomplished football player of this year's Ultimate Fighter cast, but there are other former football players as well. Did you talk to them about your experiences?
We talked a little bit about it. Some of the differences, some of the likes and dislikes. All the guys who were in the Ultimate Fighter house who played in the NFL truly love MMA. It's not like we're just toying with it.

Which sport do you like better, MMA or football?
Well, I loved playing college football, the camaraderie I had with my teammates there. I didn't feel as much of that in the NFL, but now I feel that with some of the guys I train with at Gracie Tampa, and with other MMA fighters. One of the things I like most about MMA is the camaraderie I've developed with other fighters.

Did you develop that camaraderie with other guys in the Ultimate Fighter house?
It was kind of hard to. There were some guys on the show that I really liked, but you have to understand, this is a competition. There's only one Ultimate Fighter. At any moment you might have to fight someone you're training with. You might have to fight someone you bonded with. I don't want to become really good friends with someone and then have to get in the cage with him and beat him down.

Kimbo Slice is obviously the most famous guy on this season, but he's also one of the least-accomplished professional athletes on the show: He hasn't accomplished nearly as much in MMA as someone like Roy Nelson, or nearly as much in other sports as someone like you. Did anyone resent the fact that he's more famous even though he hasn't really done much as a professional athlete?
I never felt that because, realistically speaking, I was just elated to be on the show. I wasn't there to get attention, I was just there to fight. I think other guys felt that way, too. And at the end of the day, we were all there trying to become the Ultimtae Fighter. No matter what you had done before, that's what we were there for.

Tell me an NFL player who you think would be good at MMA.
I think Simeon Rice would be a really good MMA fighter. Not only is he a good athlete, he's a nimble athlete. He can move, he has the kind of flexibility you need for jiu jitsu, he has the power. I think he'd be a good MMA fighter.

Have you kept in touch with Simeon? Do you know if he has any interest?
No, I don't think so. I think he'd be good but as far as I know he's not planning to do it.

On the flip side, do you think there are fighters in the UFC who could play in the NFL?
There's a lot of guys who fight who are good enough athletes. It's all the direction you go in with your life. A lot of guys in high school focus on football and go toward the NFL, or others might focus on wrestling or martial arts and go toward the UFC.

You mentioned that you started at 33, the same age as Randy Couture. But he's a freak of nature -- most athletes can't keep going into their mid- or late-40s. How much longer do you think you can fight?
I would like to fight as long as my body holds up and as long as I'm winning more than I'm losing. Right now I'm in the best shape of my life, I'm probably one of the strongest fighters because I was a strong NFL player and I've maintained my strength. I don't have a background in fighting like a lot of these other guys have, so every day in MMA I'm learning something new. I don't have a background in fighting or anything, so that's why I'm constantly improving.

Did you ever take martial arts or anything as a kid?
No. No background at all. The first time I threw a punch was the first time I took a striking class at Gracie Tampa. The first time I sparred with another guy he tore my face up because I didn't even know how to punch.

Kimbo got his start in street fights. Have you ever been in a street fight?

Is Kimbo Slice the Best Fighter in the World?

Considering this is a Kimbo Slice blog, my answer the to question in the title of this post might surprise you. However, if you read the entire post you will realize the reason for it.

Street fighting sensation Kimbo Slice rose to fame a couple years ago when his backyard brawls became extremely popular on YouTube and other online sites. His popularity on the internet quickly turned into a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting career for Kimbo Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson.

Kimbo Slice is mainly known for his backyard brawls posted on the internet but he is now training in MMA and is also a new member of the biggest organization in the sport, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

If you randomly asked an average person walking by you on the sidewalk who the best fighter in the world is, there is a good chance they would say Kimbo Slice. The reason is simply that he is very well known among the majority of people who don't really follow MMA or know much about it. As far as most people are concerned, Kimbo Slice is the toughest guy out there.

So, is Kimbo Slice the best fighter in the world?

The answer is undoubtedly NO!

Sure, he was a great street fighter, backyard brawler or whatever you want to call it. But the fact is he was fighting nobody's in those fights. Any top level UFC fighter would destroy Kimbo Slice 9 times out of 10 right now. Actually most mid level UFC fighters would beat him if they fought right now.

However, Kimbo is training hard at MMA and he does have a big head start over most fighters just getting into the sport because of his natural fighting ability and raw toughness. He may soon become the best fighter in the world and silence all the critics. It's certainly possible and definitely not out of the question.

Keep an eye on Kimbo Slice because he's already tough as nails and the more MMA training he gets the tougher he's going to be. This is a man on a mission and a force that shouldn't be ignored!

Newest Ultimate Fighter is Kimbo Slice

It looks like Kimbo Slice is going to be competing on the 10th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV.

There are several reports that Kimbo Slice is in Las Vegas right now filming the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, which will have Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson as the head coaches.

Kimbo heading to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) would be huge for his MMA fighting career. The UFC is the top place to be if you are a MMA fighter and it's obviously where every fighter wants to be.

I think having Kimbo Slice on the ultimate fighter is a very good move for the show. It should dramatically increase the viewers and ratings because whether you like him or not, he has a ton of fans and brings in a lot of attention to the sport.

The biggest irony of Kimbo Slice joining the UFC is that the president, Dana White, has publicly ridiculed him on a number of occasions when was fighting for EliteXC. Now he has Kimbo on his side. Pretty funny if you ask me!

Kimbo Slice Will Fight Again!

After his last fight everything sort of went downhill for Kimbo Slice. He was defeated very quickly and the company he fought for, EliteXC, went bankrupt. We haven't heard much since then and his future has been very uncertain.

However, there appears to be good news for Kimbo Slice fight fans...

Another MMA company, Strikeforce, has apparently bought all of the EliteXC assets from ProElite (their parent company). Strikeforce has a deal with both NBC and Showtime, and is looking to get the league's two most popular fighters, Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano.

Showtime senior VP Ken Hershman said he (Kimbo Slice) "Is one that we think we have a future with."

Sounds like it won't be long before we get to see another Kimbo Slice fight! This is good news for Mixed Martial Arts fans and fighting fans in general.

When does Kimbo Slice Fight again? Does anyone know yet?

I'm still holding hope that his professional MMA fighting career isn't over before it really had a chance to begin.

Sure, he lost his last one pretty quickly, but every MMA fighter loses sometimes.

All the best UFC fighters have lost at one time or another but it didn't end their careers.

As far as I know Kimbo Slice is still a free agent after EliteXC went bankrupt so I don't see why another MMA company hasn't picked him up yet. There are certainly worse fighters who have contracts and there aren't very many fighters that bring in viewers like he does, even the big names.

Hopefully Kimbo Slice Fights again soon! Even if it's a new street fight that ends up getting uploaded to youtube, at least it's something new to watch.

Ok that last one was sort of a joke. I am pretty sure he is still alive but it seems he has dropped off the face of the planet after his loss to Seth Petruzelli back in October.

Every website dedicated to Kimbo Slice that I have visited has no new updates or news about him. I can only assume he is still training and plans to fight again. One loss couldn't have ended his career. Or did it? I guess at this point nobody really knows.

He was an EliteXC fighter and they are no longer in business so maybe the problem is that he has nobody to fight for. Surely one of the other MMA fighting organizations would have some interest in picking him up. Just for the publicity if nothing else.

Well, as soon as I hear anything about Kimbo Slice I will post it here. If anyone who is reading this has some news please post a comment below to let us all know what is going on. Thanks!

EliteXC Shuts Down and Files Bankruptcy

When Kimbo Slice lost to Seth Petruzelli on October 4th, 2008 it sent EliteXC into a world of hurt.

The unexpected outcome of this Kimbo Slice fight, combined with allegations of them influencing Seth Petruzelli to fight a certain way, and the significant debt incurred by parent company Pro Elite has caused the subsequent cancellation of the November 8th event, and Pro Elite to cease operations.

On October 20, 2008, Pro Elite, the parent company of EliteXC, informed its employees and fighters that they are shutting down. As of October 21, 2008, the company plans to file for bankruptcy protection and all future events have been cancelled.

A breakdown in the negotiations with Showtime Networks to purchase Pro Elite resulted in the company's funding to disappear, forcing them out of business.

Kimbo Slice Got Rocked

Kimbo Slice was knocked out in 14 seconds last night by Seth Petruzelli.

Seth stepped in at the last minute to fight Kimbo Slice because his scheduled opponent, Ken Shamrock, was hurt working out earlier in the day.

Seth Petruzelli caught Kimbo with a punch on the jaw and when he fell to his knees, Petruzelli delivered several punches that caught a defenseless Slice. The referee was forced to step in and stop the fight. This was the first time he has been defeated in his MMA career.

What does this mean now for Kimbo Slice? Is he really just all hype? Is his professional fighting career already over before it even had a chance to really get started? All I know is that this definitely was a big setback for his MMA career.

I'm sure he will come back and fight again but I am not sure he will be so highly regarded until he can prove himself against a worthy opponent.

It really would have been good to see him fight Ken Shamrock. Maybe they will fight sometime soon.

Kimbo Slice's Next Fight Is Against Ken Shamrock

Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock is scheduled for October 4, 2008 and will be shown on CBS.

Yes, you read that right, the next Kimbo Slice fight will be against the MMA and UFC legend Ken Shamrock!

Some people are disappointed because Shamrock hasn't won a fight in quite a while. However, he is one of the most well known MMA fighters and is a pioneer of the sport. Ken was a big part of the success that UFC has become today. He may be well past his prime but he's no pushover. They don't call him "The World's Most Dangerous Man" for no reason. It should be a good fight.

I do think that Kimbo Slice will beat Ken Shamrock because he hits like a ton of bricks and has been working more and more on his ground game, but I don't think it will be an easy fight. In his prime Ken Shamrock would have destroyed Kimbo Slice because he is so much more well-rounded and knows the sport of MMA a lot better. He's also badass! But these days he is a far cry from the fighter he once was.

There's probably not much doubt that EliteXC picked Ken Shamrock for Kimbo Slice's next fight because they want Kimbo to win, and they think Shamrock is washed up and won't present much of a threat to him. From EliteXC's point of view, Ken Shamrock is the perfect opponent for Kimbo Slice because he is a big name in the sport of MMA, but Kimbo has a good shot at beating him in this fight.

About being scheduled as Kimbo's next opponent Shamrock said, "I am absolutely taking this as an insult" and he also called Slice "an idiot."

Any true MMA fan knows who Ken Shamrock is and has a lot of respect for him even if they don't like him. In the street fighting world and to those who aren't necessarily MMA fans Kimbo Slice is the baddest dude on this planet. For that reason alone this is a good fight.

One thing is for sure... This fight will get plenty of attention and there will be a lot of people watching it on October 4th.

Kimbo Slice is one of the celebrity guest characters on the new FaceBreaker video game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii.

FaceBreaker is a boxing/fighting video game with cartoony characters that allows players to break their opponents faces with a "real-time facial deformation" feature. It was released in September 2008.

Kimbo Slice is a perfect character for a game like this because he is a real life facebreaker himself!

Other celebrity guest characters are Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Kim Kardashian, Peter Moore, and Snoop Dogg. I wouldn't say any of these are bad for the game but none are quite as fitting for it as Kimbo Slice is.

Kimbo Slice Street Fight Rules

I have seen a lot of discussion on what type of fighting Kimbo Slice was actually doing back in his, now famous, street fighting days. Here are some of the facts and rules of the Kimbo Slice fights that you see all over youtube and other sites...

First of all, those Kimbo Slice fights were not Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights and they also were not technically street fights either.

1. Only punching is allowed (no elbows, knees, kicks, etc.)

2. Stand up fighting only (no ground & pound or submissions)

3. No holding or wrestling with opponent is allowed

4. If knocked down you have 30 seconds to get up and continue fighting

5. The ways to win are by knockout, 30 second count out, or simply quitting

So, now you know a little more about the Kimbo Slice street fights that you have seen so many times before. Now that he's a professional MMA fighter he probably won't be doing anymore street fights but his pro fights are just as exciting to watch.

Well it seems that Chuck Liddell has called Kimbo Slice out with some "fighting" words.

Here is what Liddell has to say about Slice...

According to Chuck Liddell, Kimbo Slice is training and learning MMA, but he hasn’t done anything to earn the recognition he gets.

"Kimbo Slice is one of those guys who doesn’t have any ground game," Liddell told The Sun. "He’s training and he’s learning but he’s been built up as such a big star, and that’s the thing that bothers me."

"People talk about him like he’s the next great thing when he really hasn’t done anything. He’s been built up because of the internet and him beating a bunch of guys on the street."

As you probably already know, Kimbo’s initial fame came from underground fighting videos posted on YouTube and other video sharing websites. Fighting on the streets of Miami, Kimbo almost always dominated his opponents in the bareknuckle fights.

"I could make some impressive knockout videos too if you let me walk outside and just punch people and knock them out - "hey you, come fight!" Liddell told The Sun. "Fuck we can make a highlight reel tomorrow and go round beating people up and talking about it. We could just go up to people and start dropping them. Wow!"

Kimbo has fired back saying he will fight and beat anyone, including Chuck Liddell. He says he has much respect and love for all MMA fighters but he will fight any of them, anytime, anywhere! He says he is tired of the talk and if you have a problem with him you know where to find him.

Personally I think that at this point Chuck Liddell probably is the better fighter. He has proven himself against the best of the best and he is definitely one of the best MMA fighters in the world. However, if he tried standing toe-2-toe with Kimbo Slice I think Kimbo could take him. I doubt he would try that though.

I also think that Kimbo is naturally a damn good fighter. Nobody could dispute that. He can hit like a ton of bricks and can obviously take hits as well. He is working on his ground game and getting better all the time. Give him another year or so and he will be right up at the top.

Then, I think he would be able to beat Chuck Liddell in a true MMA fight.

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson - 05/31/08

I told you in my last post that I would let you know who the next Kimbo Slice fight was against as soon as I found out.

It has been confirmed that his next fight is against James "The Colossus" Thompson.

Thompson is a veteran fighter with a record of 14-8 (last two fights were losses). He made a name for himself back in the day with an intimidating physique and strong punching power. But in his last fight (loss) against Brett Rogers he was noticeably less jacked than he once was.

I don't see Kimbo losing this one considering James has been knocked out in 3 of his last 4 fights and we all know Kimbo Slice has no trouble knocking people out. But hopefully it does get into an entertaining slugfest that we can all enjoy. If Thompson is back to his former hard-hitting ways it might be a good match-up.

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson will be on CBS Saturday Night Fights. It's the EliteXC main event at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on May 31, 2008.

Who Does Kimbo Slice Fight Next Time?

Supposedly, the next Kimbo Slice fight is going to be on May 31, 2008. But does anyone know who the next Kimbo Slice opponent is going to be?

I try to keep up on all the Kimbo Slice news and events so I can post them here but I can't find anywhere that says who his next fight is going to be against.

I saw an EliteXC commercial on showtime the other day about the next Kimbo Slice fight but I only caught the end of it so I don't know if they said who his opponent will be or not.

I assume it has not been announced yet so maybe nobody knows but it's only two months away so it seems to me like somebody should know by now, or at least it should be announced very soon.

Kevin Ferguson, better known as Kimbo Slice, is a street fighting legend and internet sensation.

Kimbo Slice got his start as a bare knuckle brawler on the streets of Miami where he took on any and all fighters who challenged him.

He rose to stardom as a fighting phenomenon due to millions of people seeing his street fights on youtube, he is now training in mixed martial arts (MMA) under the legendary Bass Rutten and is undefeated in professional fights thus far.

His first three professional MMA fights have barely lasted over two minutes combined. He has defeated all of his opponents very quickly.

* Kimbo Slice vs. Ray Mercer = Kimbo won by submission in 1:12 of the first round.

* Kimbo Slice vs. Bo Cantrell = Kimbo won by TKO in :19 of the first round.

* Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbot = Kimbo won by KO in :43 of the first round.

He has already proven himself as a formidable opponent and is not afraid to fight anyone.!

Kimbo Slice is 34 years old, stands 6'2" tall and his weight fluctuates from about 230 up to 260 but right now he is around 230. He lives in Miami but was born in the Bahamas.

He is supposed to be featured on an upcoming series called, "The Iron Ring" on BET, which will feature MMA prospects.

It's going to be exciting to see what Kimbo Slice has to offer the fighting world in the coming years.
